CAN’T WAIT FOR THE REAL MINI COOPER?
>Enjoy MINI Motoring with a ‘mini-MINI’ remote control car
MINI fans of all ages can now enjoy the thrill of motoring a little early, with the release of a remote control MINI Cooper model from MINI USA.The full-size MINI Cooper isn’t available until March 2002, but just like its big brother, the distinctive two-tone MINI Cooper model excels in go-kart like handling and driving fun. It’s bound to be a surefire hit with the budding motorist in any family.
The red bodied, white roofed MINI Cooper remote control car is a 1:12 scale replica of the new MINI Cooper. It comes fully detailed, and even features MINI’s famous center-mounted speedometer. The ‘mini-MINI’ accelerates to a scorching 9 mph (that’s 118mph at full scale - almost as fast as the real MINI Cooper!) and has a range of 50 feet.
Although the scale model doesn’t contain the full-size car’s six airbags, its rigid bodywork is tough enough to withstand life on the open roadway or hallway. The MINI Cooper remote control car comes ‘ready to run’ with rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries.
The remote control MINI Cooper is priced at $110 and is available at http://www.miniusa.com
The MINI Legend Continues
The full size MINI Cooper, with its distinctive contrast roof, is a legendary motorsport name and Minis have been driven by everyone from The Beatles to the Royal Family. The car has even starred alongside Michael Caine in the celebrated film ‘The Italian Job’. The new MINI Cooper builds on the legendary name and carries the driving fun and MINI personality into the 21st Century.
MINI in the United States
The full-scale MINI Cooper goes on sale in the U.S. from March 2002. Pricing for the 1.6 liter, 115 horsepower car will start below $18,000. A dealer locator on miniusa.com identifies where the nearest MINI dealer to you will be.
