New MINI is set to tour the UK in September and October, entertaining crowds at a number of special events titled, “A MINI adventure - on your turf”. The tour coincides with MINI’s first TV advertising campaign - “It’s a MINI Adventure” - in which MINI wows not just its owners, but also a plague of zombies and an invading army of martians. One of the advertisements is the shortest film ever classified by the British Film Board, at just 12 seconds long.
The new MINI One and MINI Cooper officially went on sale yesterday across continental Europe, a full two months after the July 7th UK launch. Despite this delay European MINI fans and customers should not feel too unhappy as they spare a thought for other international markets who will not see the release of the new MINI until early in 2002.
A concept MINI Cooper, to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 11 September, will give a glimpse into the future of fuel technology for smaller vehicles. For customers buying a MINI today more than 50 new options will be available in the UK from September.

Early concerns that arose on the 31st of August on the MINI2 forum have been confirmed today by MINI UK in an official statement concerning the fuel filler pipe issue. And yes, there will be a recall of all existing customer cars.
On August 14th, Mini Mania was able to bring a new MINI to the United States through a special arrangement with the US Department of Transportation. Mini Mania has the new MINI here on a “Research and Development” permit, which prohibits driving the new MINI on public roadways, for one year before it must be exported back to the UK.

A few reviews I have read say it is a crime to compare the new MINI with the Classic Mini, then most of them carry on doing just that throughout the entire report. Well being a classic Mini fan at heart, and knowing a few classic Mini colleagues who would love the chance to give the new MINI a good look over away from the glare of an eager salesman I just had to take a trip up to Manchester and the Peak District to put these two generations of Mini together on the roads for some fun.
