200,000th MINI supports Oxford Children’s Hospital

The 200,000th MINI has come off the line at BMW Group Plant Oxford today, 16 December.

The chilli red MINI Cooper with its white contrast roof is one of over 150,000 MINIs to be produced at the Oxford plant this year. The 200,000th MINI is another milestone in MINI’s success story and is designated for a special purpose.

BMW Group’s Oxford plant has decided to donate this special car to the Oxford Children’s Hospital Campaign as a prize for a raffle to be held at a later stage. To mark the occasion, the 200,000th MINI was driven off the line by Paul Drayson, chairman of the Children’s Hospital Campaign, who said: “We are delighted that BMW Group has chosen to support the Oxford Children’s Hospital Campaign. Their gift will help us to build a centre of excellence dedicated to providing children with the best care and facilities.”

After handing over the car, Rainer Bickmann, director of assembly at Plant Oxford, said: “MINI’s success in 2002 has been tremendous. We are on schedule to produce more than 150,000 MINIs this year and I am delighted that one of them will go towards raising money for the new children’s hospital.”

BMW Group’s UK businesses have also pledged a cash donation of £50,000 to the campaign.
