Another Interior Design Change on the Cards (Already!)…
Never was happy with the changes….
In August 2001 (yes, 3 years before it actually happened!) MINI2 users were told that BMW planned to move the clock from it’s location above the windscreen to a new location, at time time thought to be the radio display. Overall the reaction (while not huge) was generally disapproving, we certainly didn’t like the idea…
Now MINI have made the change, and moved the clock to part of the instrument cluster. The first time we drove the car we had a lot of trouble reading the clock in the Convertible, and it was altogether decided it was not a smart or user friendly move, but then again, it was largely down to cost cutting, and not much else.
Now, however, a trusted and reliable source from inside MINI has come forward and informed MINI2 that a change is going to take place for the new ‘05 Convertible (and almost certainly hatchback) MINI. It would seem that due to issues of visibility and ergonomics, the clock and other information could be moved up high near the rear view mirror! No ETA or furher details at this time, but when we know, you all will too!
At the same time, MotoringFile has learned of another backwards step, this time MINI USA is said to be dropping the NEW anthracite headlining option!
It’s a mad MINI world for sure!
