John Cooper Works GP Tuning Kit: Light Weight Cooper S
Looks like BMW made a little blunder..
On the afternoon of Sunday 23rd October, this message was posted on the MINI2 forums, with images from the BMW Press Website showing sketches of a MINI labeled “John Cooper Works GP Tuning Kit”.
Much furore and speculation followed, with people wondering what this was, if was genuine, if it was old or new, why does it have an “old” registration plate, where’s the wiper blades…. In short, what is it?!

Well, it seems BMW made a mistake. These photos form part of the information to be handed to the press at the MINI United event in Misano, Italy. They do indeed show design sketches of the lightweight, ltd production MINI Cooper S that MINI2 first broke the news of at the start of this year.
Although we are not in a position to say anything has been officially confirmed, sources have told us this will be the name of the new Light Weight Cooper S, and these sketches give a good idea of how extreme, and down right awesome, the new ltd. edition should be!
More news and precise details will follow as they are revealed this weekend in Italy, where MINI2 will be attending the MINI United event.
