Three MINI Cooper S hatches completed the final leg of a 49-day, thrill-a-minute adventure yesterday. At the end of the 8,000-mile journey that took them from South Africa to England across ten countries, they arrived at Plant Oxford, the home of MINI.

Record March sales for MINI UK
In its fifth year since sales began, MINI UK has achieved its biggest registration month on record with 7,687 MINIs sold during March 2006. Demand for the Oxford-built MINI continues unabated which is why the plant is undergoing an investment programme to increase production capacity. Since the announcement in February 2005 of over £100 million investment, new equipment is being installed to take capacity up to 240,000 units in the medium-term.
MINI dealers invest millions
In 2005, 21 MINI dealers invested a total of £16.5 million in developing new premises, or the expansion of existing facilities, in order to meet the future growth of the MINI brand and offer more choice to customers. This trend is set to continue in 2006 with many of the 154 dealerships in the MINI network opening new showrooms and facilities with even more planning completion over the next two years.

Auto Express magazine awarded the MINI Cherished programme ‘Used Car Scheme 2006’
Auto Express magazine awarded the MINI Cherished programme ‘Used Car Scheme 2006’ at its annual Used Car Honours Awards in London. In the first three months of the year sales of MINI Cherished have risen by 21 per cent while in March alone an all-time record of 2,060 new owners bought a Cherished MINI.
To win the award MINI Cherished beat all the other manufacturer-backed schemes. Judges examined which scheme offered customers the best value for money, protection and user friendliness.

New Colour Schemes Hark Back to Halcyon Days
MINI are thought to be planning a real retro-fest for the last of the current generation MINI line, with new colour schemes to be introduced as a limited run towards the end of production. The new colours originate from the Classic Mini’s heyday back in the 1960s and 70s.
Apparently, MINI wants to go out with a bang and show some flare to give the last of the current generation a really unique and special send off, but those old enough to remember the “good ol’ days” of British Leyland may not be so excited about the planned kaleidoscope of colours as those not so familiar with the colour schemes of the past may be.
