MINI USA Invites All MINI Owners & Enthusiasts on a Cross-Country Road Trip Between Montery & Lime Rock

This summer, the MINI Takes the States rally will begin in California
following the Monterey Historic Automobile Races and end 3,123 miles
across the country at the Lime Rock Vintage Festival in Connecticut

MINI USA announces MINI Takes the States, a two-week cross country road trip open to MINI owners and enthusiasts that will kick off on August 21 at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races in Monterey California and end on September 4 at the Lime Rock Vintage Festival in Lakeville, Connecticut.

MINI Takes the States is being held to celebrate MINI’s vibrant owner community, the launch of the MINI Cooper S with the John Cooper Works Kit (”MINI GP”) and the fact that The Cooper Car Company is the featured marque at the Monterey weekend. In contrast to MINI’s size, the event has a cheeky, secondary tag line of “The 2006 MINI TransAmerican Motortastic Road Trip To End All Road Trips Rally”.

Innovative and Exciting Plans for British International Motor Show

BMW Group Plaza hosts world and UK debuts in stunning outdoor arena.

The BMW Group (BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars) has announced its plans for the 2006 British International Motor Show at ExCeL in London’s Docklands. The three stands, set outdoors within the 11,000 square metre BMW Group Plaza, are set to rewrite the rule book on how a company presents its products and activities at a motor show.

The BMW Group Plaza will include: the first BMW world debut at a British motor show; UK debuts for BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce products; the full range of products from BMW and MINI; a MINI Concept; Formula 1, World Touring Car Championship, Formula BMW show cars; a lifesize BMW Oracle America’s Cup showboat; a hole-in-one golf competition; an opportunity to battle “aliens” from inside a MINI; exclusive areas for BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce owners and VIPs; a host of fake MINIs; BMW motorcycles. The whole display will be set in a dramatic alfresco arena alongside Royal Victoria Dock and directly in front of the ExCeL entrance.

MINI launches an unusual promotional campaign for football fans for the 2006 Football World Cup

Everything’s possible with MINI. Any time. Any place. Sometimes
even the seemingly impossible. Such as the idea of a MINI hotel “on wheels” for the 2006 Football World Cup, appearing in host cities where all hotel rooms have been booked for months.

To coincide with the World Cup, MINI is creating some MINIs especially for football fans. Designed to look like mobile “fan hotels”, they will be touring the streets in various host cities where matches are being played. They will carry the message: “welcome to the MINI Hotel International”, “MINI Hotel Brazil”, “MINI Hotel Italy” and “MINI Hotel France”, because naturally, MINI hotels are always right at the heart of the best World Cup action.

Team MINI Triumps on Targa Debut

Successful start for MINI in Tasmania - MINI on track for more motorsport magic

Team MINI has burst back onto the Australian motorsport scene securing an outstanding finish for all three cars at Targa Tasmania, 40 years after Mini Coopers filled the top nine places at Bathurst.

The fledgling team has well and truly earned its racing stripes after finishing first and second of all front-wheel drive competitors in the hotly contested drivetravel.com Modern Competition. Team MINI scored second overall in the manufacturer standings behind the vastly-experienced factory backed Subaru team, and ahead of Mitsubishi and Porsche team runners.

£17m BMW Group Academy UK Opens for Business

The BMW Group Academy UK was officially opened 5th May

This brand
new, purpose-built training and development facility represents an
investment by the BMW Group of £17 million underlining the company’s commitment to the UK skills agenda.

Based at Verve Venues’ Wokefield Park, near Reading, BMW Group Academy UK will provide all technical and non-technical training for the BMW, MINI and motorcycle dealer networks and will also be available to BMW Group’s employees throughout the UK.

Incorporating a 32 bay workshop, 22 training rooms and BMW, MINI and motorcycle showrooms to simulate a working dealer environment, the 5,400 square metre two-storey facility also features a dedicated apprentice training area with its own residential accommodation and a separate clubhouse for the current intake of between 160-170 apprentices per year.

BMW Group Achieves Record Earnings in the First Quarter

Profit before tax up by 12.0% before exceptional gain

Pre-tax profit up by 57.7% to euro 1.296 billion
Earnings and sales volume outlook for full year confirmed

Munich. The BMW Group has started 2006 with record quarterly earnings. The number of cars sold in the first three months also represented a new high. As forecast, the BMW Group is thus heading for the best year in its corporate history: “We are well on our way to achieving our target of a group profit before tax of 4 billion euros”, stated Helmut Panke, the Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, on Wednesday in Munich. “We also expect earnings to increase in 2006 at an operating level excluding the exceptional gain from the exchangeable bond on Rolls-Royce plc shares”. In volume terms, the BMW Group as previously reported aims to achieve a new sales volume record.
