269 MINIs in a Row!
Three weeks ago we reported on a planned attempt to make an entry into the World Record Books organised by Derek Woodman MINI.
Well, they’ve done it! 269 MINIs in convoy. Read personal experiences of those taking part on the MINI2 forums here.
MINI USA and SIRIUS announce that SIRIUS is available as a factory installed option with a lifetime subscription on the all-new 2007 MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S hardtops produced beginning this June.
…and the lifetime subscription stays with the car from one owner to the next.
The factory-installed option will be available for an MSRP of $950, which includes the lifetime subscription. MINI USA will also offer SIRIUS with the lifetime subscription, as part of its upgraded Audio Pack that also includes MINI’s Hi-Fi sound system, for an MSRP of just $1,400.
“We are excited to offer our customers factory-installed SIRIUS radio with a lifetime subscription.” said Rich Steinberg, head of MINI Product Strategy, “Now it makes the choice even easier for them to enjoy SIRIUS Satellite Radio in their new MINI.”
“With over 130 channels of the Best Radio on Radio, SIRIUS offers the ultimate choice in satelilite radio” said Doug Wilsterman, Senior Vice President, and General Manager OEM Division for Sirius. “By including a “lifetime” subscription, owners can listen to SIRIUS for as long as they own their MINI.”
Very few tickets remain…
That’s right folks, it’s less than two months until the third annual MINI2 Charity Ball will take place, and only a handful of tickets remain.
The MINI2 Charity Ball has been a great success in previous years, and is a truly unique event among the increasingly crowded MINI social calendar. It’s THE place to socialise, chat, eat, and just have a great time among like minded MINI owners, while raising money for good causes.
This year the chosen charity is Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The organisers behind this years even have really raised the bar, and with the unique Bond Themed evening already approaching a sell out, hopes remain high that with your help and support, the Charity Ball will reach an amazing target of £10,000 raised for a very good cause!
Even if you cannot make the evening, you can make a difference by donating via the Just Giving Donations Website. Where nearly £1,500 has already been donated by generous MINI owners!
So please, come along and enjoy the ball if you can, and if you can’t, why not shake a bucket at your next club meeting and raise a few dollars, pounds, or pennies for the MINI2 Charity Bal and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Thank you!

“Clubman Estate” to return to the roads after 27 year break.
At the International Automobile Salon in Geneva, MINI
confirmed that the next derivative in its model range will be called
MINI Clubman. Based on a concept first shown in Frankfurt in 2005 (shown below), a
‘Shooting Brake’ body-styled car will be on sale before the end of 2007. BMW promises the new car will be distinctive, yet authentically embody the MINI character. Offering more versatility without compromising the chassis of current Hatch models.
Historically, ‘Shooting Brake’ models are so-called due to a combination of premium two-door styling, with added interior flexibility for owners leading active lifestyles.

The official press release states the new car takes inspiration and styling cues from the Morris Mini Traveller, which experienced widespread success between 1960-69, however this doesn’t paint a very full picture of the Traveller, Countryman and Clubman Estate history the new MINI model is hoping to recapture some of it’s spirit from.
