MINI hatch models are to receive technological revisions later this year, resulting in jaw-dropping performance and efficiency figures.

Following on from Yesterday’s great news about the demand for the MINI Cooper D, Today’s press release from BMW (to follow), will no doubt push demand even further through the roof!

MINI hatch models are to receive technological revisions later this year, resulting in jaw-dropping performance and efficiency figures. Already BMW Group’s cleanest ever car, the MINI Cooper D will be capable of returning an astonishing 72.4mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 104 g/km.

When production of the revised models begins in August 2007, there will be no requirement for alternative fuel sources or hybrid technology to achieve these stunning stats. All model variants will instead be supplied as standard with high-tech engine tweaks, providing exceptional economy and minimal emissions without compromising the MINI driving experience.

Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop Function and Switch Point Display complete a package that will come at no extra cost to future MINI customers.

A “Good Problem” for MINI as Cooper Diesel and special edition soft top demand beats expectations

We had a tip of from one of our sources inside MINI that there were plans afoot to increase production of the MINI Cooper Diesel and MINI Sidewalk Convertible. So a quick check with the press office at MINI, and we had confirmation that they are indeed doing better than expected (so much easier to get confirmation on this than rumours on future models, no surprise!).

The Third MINI2 Charity Ball Takes Place This Weekend

The third MINI2 Charity Ball is taking place this weekend, and although it’s too late for those who’ve missed out on the the most special MINI event of the calendar to grab a place, it’s not too late for you to make a difference and help MINI2 raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

As we have an global audience at MINI2, we appreciate that many of our overseas visitors are unable make it to the ball, even UK based members can find it a stretch, but this year we have used the Just Giving website to enable donations from all over the globe, which go directly to support our chosen charity for this years ball.

So, if you can’t make on the night, send us your best wishes, but also, please send us some money using the Just Giving MINI2 Charity Ball web page. Thank you for anything you feel you can donate to this cause, a pound, a dollar, or a euro, it all helps!

BMW (and MINI) Win International Engine of the Year Awards

How do you replace an award winning engine? With another award winning engine it would seem! BMW have announced further victories at the International Engine of the Year awards, and once again the MINI Cooper S engine has previaled in the 1.4 to 1.8 litre category.

Sales are also strong, The second generation MINI is now available in all the major markets worldwide. This caused sales to rise by 19.2% in April to 18,263 MINI sold (prev.yr.: 15,323). For the year to the end of April 2007, the world’s most successful small car in the premium segment is 0.6% above last year, with 65,245 deliveries to customers (prev.yr.: 64,841).
