RE: Chrono or not to Chrono ...

This threads been pretty dormant since June but if people are still interested ...

I recently drove a Cooper Convertible with the Chrono Package. I had thought originally that I really wanted that Speedo moved to the center. But when I drove with it I found that you couldn't see either the Speedo or the RPM gauge very well through the steering wheel. Unlike other cars, the gauges are mounted very close to the steering wheel (instead of deep within a dash housing) and the wheel is smaller than most. In the end, once you get past 35 MPH you can't see the numbers at all unless you hunch down and squint up - not a recommended activity while driving.

And when you get the Chrono package, the On Board Computer (OBC) changes so that the speed no longer gets displayed in a digital fashion on the OBC display! A big drawback.

So, I quickly changed my order to NOT include the Chrono package. The Speedo stays in the middle where it can be seen at a glance (without hunching down; safer) and the OBC displays the digital speed right in front of me, too. The best of both worlds. And I saved $250 and upgraded to leather instead.
