Production slot question... The scenario is as follows: Dealer says no more production slots for the Cooper for October or November. Yet he may be able to get some more for November and will know in 1 to 3 weeks. The CooperS still has slots for October and November.
So the questions are: 1) Are the production slots strictly for each model or are they interchangeable? 2) Does the dealer try to fill as many of those slots with the more expensive CooperS until the last minute and then fill up what's left with the Cooper?
I only ask because I've been told there are no Cooper slots till December and found out from another buyer(whose getting the S) that the price is going up. I asked the dealer and they said it will be increased for anyone with a December slot or later. Now when I put my money down and received my receipt with the price of the Cooper quoted I asked if this was the final price. The salesman said it was while he did mention that the production slots were filled through November he never mentioned that the price would increase after that months slots were filled. It may seem silly on my part, but how I am treated plays a big part in whether or not I will buy a car. So I'm trying to find out how things are done to determine if I'm being forced to wait even though I've put money down so the dealer can make a larger profit while I wait and someone who comes in to order in the next 1 to 3 weeks gets their CooperS at a lower (buy still more profitable price for the dealer) price. This all to fill production slots(quotas).
Hope it makes sense. Thank you for any help or advice. |
