I got rid of that dreaded white residue by using a toothbrush and 70% alcohol and then rubbing with olive oil..(I didn't have peanut oil ) but it worked great...white residue absolutle 100% gone and has not returned and has been about 3 weeks since I did this...two washes several rainstorms and the trim is still jet black and looks great
