My MINI has an old-style number - no prefix or suffix. But it's in the standard black on yellow/white configuration.

Until recently, the same number was on my classic Mini. Despite being a '96 build car, I got away with silver on black for about 3 years - after all, vey few coppers could tell the difference between a Mark I shell and a Mark V shell

The 1960s paint job helped too.

But I wouldn't try to get away with it on the new car. Possible repurcussions include fines and ultimately the DVLA "withdrawing" the plate - and if they wanted to get really nasty, they could try to saddle you with a Q-plate too

Arrived July '02. EB with white roof, wheels and stripes, Chili pack, DSC and climate control. Hate those 17" runflats though. Can now be seen all over the West Midlands, as a blue blur passing everything at speed
