From my dealer and MINI UK Customer Services:-

Even on a MINI such as mine with standard 15" wheels, a spare wheel CANNOT be fitted after purchase. This is because, apparently the body and/or "tyre cage" is not built onto the car unless the spare is specified at purchase time (£25).

My only option is to buy all the bits and put the spare in the boot - which will leave me with no luggage space.

I'm *seriously* not happy about this.
