your mechanic friend that said the '05 Mini was having specific reliability issues maybe you could ask him/her to be more specific so we can answer as to whether or not we've experienced those issues. Some folks consider an annoying rattle/squeak an issue(me included). For others it would have to be much more serious(eg: stalling). If your friend can't come up with any then I'd say they were a bit full of it. *shrug*

Personally with under 1000 miles on my '05 I don't feel qualified, but I have had zero problems and it's been single digits(f) or less for the past two weeks.
