I like to think of the "model lineup"; each car has a place, a reason for being, and something to distinguish it from the others.

One D[iesel] 6-speed (maybe the best MINI of all?), One CVT, One 5-speed.
The CVT-equipped cars are first and foremost "MINI" and then they are just equipped with a superior drivetrain.
