I purchased roof/bonnet and trunk stuff from CarVogue sometime before my
MCs turned up. i went to them because a) they had a decent repututation b) they have templates etc for new MINIs
I just put the decals on last week and had mixed emotions about the whole thing.
Right off the bat the guy doing the installation (an experience (NON BMW) guy whose work I have seen) said that he didn't like the material they used - some type of MacTAc - and also questioned the way the checkers had actually been constructed. He also was surprised that the roof piece was just one huge square. He had anticipated 3 pieces and some contouring for the shape of the roof.
The hood (bonnet)stipes which were pre cut did not fit and we had to adapt the rear ones to go on the front.
The installer did put everything on and the end result was great except that I don't have trunk stripes. He also had to add soem pin stripes as the hood stripes didn;t look finished the way they came. If I ever get my digital camera cack from my kides I will post some pictures.
I emailed CarVogue with my concerns and they admitted that they did not know (at the time they made mine)that S bonnets are different from non S and that they now give an option to order square or shaped roof pieces because of other problems people have had. They also are refunding part of the price I paid which was a very nice gesture.
In closing I guess it all worked out well but a little nerve wracking.
For anyone in the GTA area of Southern Ontario I would strongly suggest calling Greg at TrimLine in Burlington. He said he can make and install what I had done for $300cdn - about 1/2 of what it cost me. Plus he is local so if I have a problem I know where to find him.
