Well I missed the "classic shot " I was after by about half an hour
...you know the "Aida with giant bow wave scudding up Southampton Water" one...but it was probably only half light anyway. I got there to see her being brought into the berth backwards by the tug Lyndhurst at sun up (6:45).
This shot shows the tension still on the tugs rope before the shore ropes fully take the strain.
