I would still avoid supermarket fuels even if it is 99 RON. Honest John in the Daily Telegraph gets loads of letters from readers with one year old cars who use only supermarket fuels and have starting problems and coking - the main problem being a lack of detergent in the fuel.

My local Tesco sells unleaded for 84.9p per litre and the nearby Shell sells it for 82.9p and yet they won't honour their price match as they claim you also get Clubcard points. I only ever use supermarket fuels in hire cars.
