I had this sort of problem, but mine came on after the engine cut out while driving down the motorway!!
If you leave the ignition on for 5-10 minutes this often cancels the lights, something to do with the exhaust emission sensor re-setting itself I think!
Didn't work for me though as a couple of sensors and the throttle housing were goosed!!
