Just got my '04
MCS out of the body shop today (Missus CalPauly had a bumper bender) and experienced this issue myself. Wasn't doing it when I took it in, so my immediate assumption was some wiring harness that had to be removed (hood damage, though slight, was situated in such a way to require R&R on the whole thing.
I'm about 950miles from it's first service, so I'll just wait til then to have it fixed. Have not had this problem in my '02
