Its a simple compression tool that fits inside the brake caliper and you wind it up with a socket BMW tool number 34-1-050

Cost?

£158 less VAT

Now, would anyone from BMW/MINI care to comment on this pricing?

Thanks in anticipation

Similar tools from Ford and even VW cost a fraction

Tell you what, we have a number for a local snap-on guy i will try to talk to him and see how much they charge for one of their tools. It might be a good investment if you are planning to change the pads more often than expected. And with the price the dealer charges you could probably make back the cost in a couple of pad changes.

Hobzy also has a valuable point, thats just because they want to make money on you.... on something that is a very simple job if you can hold a spanner.
