I got 29 mpg. I said to heck with that, and went back to driving like I used to, shifting about 3200-3600 (when it "feels right"). I check my tire air pressure and make sure it is at 35 psi. I just drive reasonable and don't rive overly aggressive. I drive calm and enjoy myself and I'm now getting 32 mpg.
I use a program call Fuel Log on my hand-held (PDA) to keep track of my fill-ups and gas milage.

I would have been happy with 30 MPG.

I have only been getting about 23 MPG and from everything I have read in these forums it seems nearly everyone does better. So like you I tried to be extremely careful. I keep my OBC on the consumption setting and watch it like a hawk and way reduced my RPMs. My mileage got worse - now only 20 MPG.

On another thread I saw a suggestion that perhaps the chip needs to be reset. The reccomendation was to disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect it. I have not wanted to do this myself because i don't want to screw up the service indicator etc. So I figure I will wait until my first service visit and talk to my dealer about this.
