Hi - this depends on what bit of software they are talking about. There is the OS update CD and then of course the Map DVD itself.

The OS update software *should* be free to upgrade if your car is under warantee. However, it is often quicker and less hassle to get the update cd yourself and flash your own car as many ppl seem to do. There are countless links around on how to do this.

The Map DVD is more tricky - it costs somewhere in the region of £100 and I understand there are 2 or 3 updates a year?

I recently took my sat nav from 4-1/50 to 4-1/60 which is the most current version (it came out 10 days after I took delivery!!) - you can see your version in the top right of the 'SET' screen. This had made some lovely visual differences but no change to poastcode search.

Where did you see the info about the 2006 software as I have not seen this?
