DIY Brake light and DSC Light go on but won't go off...

My brake light will go on, then soon there after, the DSC light will go on. The DSC will not go off, even if I try to use the toggle.

I found on this site that someone with the user name Drakken posted the following in Feb. and May of 2003.

"My MINI has been acting weird. The brake light comes on, then about a minute later the DSC light comes on and stays on and the front wipers stop working. If I turn the car off and remove the key it resets but then comes back on.

I parked it yesterday and a fan (I think the radiator fan) was running and the parking lights were one even though the lights were switched off and the key was removed!!

Any ideas????"

and

"My problem turned out to be a short created by a wire harness that got frayed on the brake booster. The short caused the other thing to act weird."

Has anyone else experienced this with their Mini?

If so, can you tell me what caused your problem. My dealer service team is either stupid or lazy. I'm leaning towards the former since it is now in the shop for the 3rd time.

The first time in they said it needed brake fluid, the second time they said the fluid reserve needed to be replaced. Both times they were wrong. I'm trying to assist them so I can get my car back ASAP. If it's important, its a 2005.

Please assist if you can!

Thanks in advance.
