Yeh, Tim, I think that they were going to cruise that part of town.
Spazz and I caught up with them on Sunday at Albert Park, doing a lap of the F1 track. We (Spazz and I) then went down to Station Pier to wait for them. They turned up at 12 noon and parked a little away from where we had parked. Strangely enough even though there were five of them, and some good looking sheilas in tight MINI Tshirts, they didn't get much attention. Spazz and I saw 5 times as many people checking out our cars, compared to the official Roadshow.
Anyhow, Shawn Ticehurst (MINI Brand Manager - very high up the tree) and his lovely female friend turned up to make sure that all was in order. After a while he came to speak to Spazz and me, and thanked us for coming along.
To show us his gratitude for promoting MINI he has arranged for Spazz and I and our partners to attend next year's F1 in Melbourne as guests of BMW. How's that for just being there flag-waving?
Actually, I made that bit up.
Shawn was happy to see us but we still had to buy our own coffees.
So Spazz and I beat them down to Williamstown (sort of) and saw them stopping for more coffee. So we slipped past them and parked outside of some of the busiest cafes and got lots of good long looks. I'm sure some of the people were checking out the cars, too !!!
These cars are real attention grabbers, I kid you not. I had a fantastic day, there is nothing like being part of a MINI convoy.
I think that they will still be cruising around Melbourne till late tomorrow. Sorry, I don't have any times or places to catch up with them.
