I have a July 2002 build Cooper S.

The glove box won't stay shut. Initially, it would open on bumpy roads. Now, just a few days after the problem first presented, any bump in the road will pop it open.

I found a thread on Mini2 that recommended taking it to a dealer for warranty repair. I am out of warranty at this point.

Anyone have a fix for this problem? I don't see any spacers to adjust. The mechanism seems to be well centered and after some WD-40, it moves very smoothly, but it still spontaneously opens.
