I just updated the
YC/A51 website to include links for lodging, dining, touring and other events located in the Yankee Candle area known as the Pioneer Valley. In addition, there is a linked Mapquest map of Yankee Candle that can be zoomed-out to view all the towns/cities in the Valley.
The Northampton and Amherst areas are steeped in early American history. They also have some of the finest restaurants in Western Massachusetts. You may wish to make a dining reservation in Northampton (consult the links) for Thursday night. Or you may want to visit the Amherst Town Common for "A Taste of Amherst" where local restaurants serve small portions of their most popular dishes to the people milling about the common. A very cool event with delicious food, fascinating people and (usually) great music!
