Thanks for getting the ball rolling, Gary.

For anyone who hasn't received the email about the track session or the drinks and dinner later that night at the Newmarket Tavern, PM me with your email address and I will forward info.

In short, the track session is targeted at those that are new to track days, however, we can still cater for the more experienced.

The afternoon is based around QRs Saturday Afternoon Sprints. We need between 10 and 15 MINIs, to have only clubMINI MINIs on the circuit during our runs.
The format will be:
  • Lodge licence application and register on arrival. (Details in the email)
  • Driver’s briefing to commence between midday and 12.30pm;
  • Cars starting in pit lane and waved away one at a time to ensure sufficient distance between cars;
  • Passing will only be allowed on the main straight;
  • Each session will be 1 warm up lap; 5 “hot” laps; and 1 warm down lap to allow you brakes to cool;
  • 4 sessions for the afternoon;
  • All laps will be computer timed.
The plan is to meet at McDonalds at Goodna at 10:00am for a 10:30 departure (Goodna exit, southbound on the Ipswich Motorway) and travel in our usual convoy. Arrival at QR is planned for 11:00am, to ensure we get all the MINIs into adjoining pit lane garages before other cars start arriving. To make the afternoon hassle free, I would encourage everyone to stick to the proposed timeframe. If you have difficulty with the departure time, contact me and we can discuss options.

If you are nervous about taking your pride and joy onto a race circuit, that is totally understandable. I don’t know one person who has not felt that way prior to their first track day. Thoughts about insurance, warranties and tyre wear all pass through our minds the first time. However, follow the rules and be sensible and this experience is far safer than driving to and from work – AND A LOT MORE FUN!

Hope to see a bunch of you on the day.
