With fossil fuels on the way out you could always put a bulb or something on the end of your finger and put the electrical charge to good use . sorry I couldn't resist
, I also suffer from static on my MINI particularly at carpark ticket machines and I agree the best way is to place your hand firmly on the object ie door or machine and this will avoid the zapp !!
