On my 2003 Cooper S I picked up last week, I had the dealer install the Moss skid plate before I even got there, and I haven't had a chance to examine the underside of the car closley yet - so I'm not sure if they've improved things.

I sure felt a lot better travelling across the country with a skid plate though! Especially the last day driving through a few inches of freezing slush in northern New Mexico during a driving snowstorm.
