I'd say that there's a good chance that it's at least a two-off event (see the NAM thread referred to earlier. It's long, but you'll get the important bits by scanning through and reading Donna/Mikes posts).

On a positive note, the folks at MINI of Peabody, Chris Bourque in particular, have been a total class act. Arrangements were quickly made for a rental car, free of charge, for as long as it takes for the matter to be sorted out. I did not expect this as we knew up front when buying the car that MINI does not offer loaner vehicles.

A BMW/MINI USA rep is travelling from NJ today to survey the vehicle, and an adjuster from USAA will be inspecting it on Thursday, so we should know a lot more in the next couple of days.
