I have an '06 with the "new" style washer jet that does exactly as you say by giving a bath to the spoiler and concur that I don't care much for that either. As for being able to adjust it, you can adjust the nozzle to a degree as it's in sort of a ball socket but you will not likely be able to adjust it to pre-moisten the window and wiper blade prior to engaging the cleaning feature. Fortunately mine hasn't spent enough time dirty in order to require using the window washers.
