The back side of it needs to change IMO. The sharp edges and flat surface don't work with the lines of the MINI. Roll it off and round it out and it's look better.

?? Will the final product require removal of metal? If you want to improve air volume you'd want to open up the area under your scoop. So you would need to remove the center section of the hood. The current curve is where a good deal of the rigidity of the hood comes from. Removing that will weaken the hood so reinforcement needs to be part of the plan.
If you aren't going to open it up then I can't see a large advantage to this as the volume will be quite limiting.
