bo nydal,
I have not owned a first year car so I have nothing to compare to, other than test drives in an early '02 Cooper and a Cooper S.
My car has been trouble free. No squeaks, no rattles, no poor throttle response, no shifter problems. It has just been an absolute joy to own and drive. At this point I have just over 3,500 miles on my baby.
Compared to the dealer test
MCS my
MCS is light years ahead. The throttle response is crisp from idle to top end. The problems with early poor low speed throttle response and difficult starting has been solved with a software patch. It drives like a totally different BEAST. And beast it is, pulling hard from any point in the power band to the red line. With all the power available, red line is not someplace you 'need' to go all that often, maybe you want to go there but you really don't 'need' to. However it sounds so so good up there.
But I digress. Buy the new car, it will be worth it. Upgrade to the
MCS if you can afford the tickets.
