Not an S but my cooper has just hit 58,000. In the last 2 months its had new:

Flywheel
Clutch
Rear Wiper
airbag loom
engine mounts
cv joints
steering rack
power steering motor

at a cost of £1350

but saying that, mine is a really early 01 cooper, its Y reg, not even 51!
