George, travelling with me in another GP, had no issue so it might have been a particularly wet patch that I crossed but he didn't.

Perhaps the tyres were a little 'new'?

I have experienced some 'tramlining' under braking on poorer road surfaces. This is a bit disconcerting when one hand is occupied on gear changing duties.
