Bear in mind that it isn't actually a tyre pressure monitoring system as such. It works off measuring the rotation of the wheels via the ABS sensors. A flat tyre will have a smaller rolling radius, so will therefore have to turn faster than the other wheels.

This means that to trigger the system you have to have lost quite a lot of air from the tyre. So it's definately worth checking your pressures.

When they are ok, reset the system following the instructions in the manual.
