I think you might want to try to redirect her at first, away from what you don't want her to do, and then as she gets used to it try the more aversive methods. The coins in can is pretty loud, and I had a very sensitive dog who was really afraid of it, whereas my friend's Lab/Golden responded really well to it.

I just remembered a book I read a few years ago about the genetics involved in calico cats' coloring, called "Cats Are Not Peas". Very interesting book. Most calico cats are female, and it is one of my favorite types of cats.
