On the 06 there is no need to touch the centre console,
Pull down the drivers knee bolster (they can be very tight) get you hands in between the boster & column covers & pull down it is held by to clips at the top & is hinged at the bottom.
You can then get to the top pillar screw. Remove all 4 pillar screws as shown earlier, the pillars will drop & you can push them outwards to remove the radio screws
