I upgraded the headlight bulbs to
these. They give a much bluer 'xenon effect' light, whilst not quite as blue as the halos they are very similar and definately look trick at night
My spots are the OEM MINI ones, they have standard bulbs which seem fine when blasting down country lanes etc, although I'm guessing they won't match colour-wise... but I've never looked as its too bright
