| I'm sure my 52 handbook says to check cold?! Will look tonight. Basically all my previous cars and my haynes manual always said park the car up on the level and let the engine settle. Check the oil when cool so that the oil thats been whizzed round the engine is now in the bottom. The level should be within the crosshatched area of your dipstick. Over filling is not the end of the worrl as the car will cope...not the best plan but it'll be ok in the main. Best to drain some if you can. I would say that it should be at the top of the cross hatch when cold and nearerr the bottom of the cross hatch when warm. At no point should it be above or below the cross hatching. |
