The Wall Street Journal today had an article on centrally mounted gauge clusters. In that article they cited MINI sources to stated that, while the speedo will remain at the center of the dash, some sort of electronic display of vehicle speed will be on the steering-wheel-mounted tach.

I would think this would display in the space that the MFC is in the tach. It did not say when this would be available.
