Timing for remote unlocking of passenger door

I have an 06 MINI Cooper S. Unlocking the passenger door with the remote requires clicking the unlock button twice. I don't have a problem with this, but the timing of the second click seems unusual. If I click unlock twice in rapid succession the passenger door does not unlock. To get it to work, I have to press the button once, wait 2 seconds, then press the button again. This seems excessively long. On my wife's Subaru you can click the remote twice rapidly and it works.

I asked my dealer if the timing could be changed and they said that it can't be done.

My question: Is this normal? Does every MINI owner need to pause a long time (two seconds is an eternity in electronics) when they want to unlock all the doors?

By the way, I've had this car for just over a year, and this is the biggest complaint I could come up with! I love my MINI!
