I think the problem with the one I saw was it had the body coloured roof and no stripes. So it looked very plain.
As for MY/W, this combination works much better than LY/W ever did. The white works well against the darker yellow. I've never seen a LY/W MINI which I've really liked (no offence to LY/W owners out there). They always look a little insipid. Black seems to provide a bit of contrast (under-statement if ever there was one

) and makes it look sportier.
On MY/B, I think there is more risk of it looking 'waspy', but from all the photos I have seen I like this combination. It seems the natural progression from my own MINI.
