For newbies to this kind of thing, I just wrote a post on my new-ish blog (don't roll your eyes!) where I go through what's in my "track box". Some of this will be overkill for a skills school, but some of it might still come in handy. You're not going to have to worry about rotating tires and bleeding brakes for this event, for instance.
