Not one dealer has given a satisfactory explanation as to what the cause is and so far they seem to be guessing at what it can be. If they dont know what it is, how can they give me and others the proof that it isnt a serious problem and when we are 20-30k miles along the road it has not affected our engines lifespan.
Yes you are missing something Martin. Only a handful of cars appear to make this abnormal sound. If everyones R56 MCS made this noise we could all sit here and chortle at the wonderful clatter we just spent our hard earned money on.
When i start my car i expect it to tick over with the usual mechanical chorus one should expect from a new car, not one day its fine the next it knocks and clatters, afterall this isnt a Y reg 150 quid Ford Escort we just bought from Honest Bobs Cars.
Except for the colours, we have two identical R56 MCS' in the family, both delivered on the same day, mechanically these are two completely different cars. Agreed no two cars are the same, but i expect in this day and age that the mechanical tolerances of the engine's manufacture to be very close and not to have one engine that purr's everyday and the other sounding like a Massey Ferguson Tractor when it feels like it.
