United-States Slow shifts on the gen 2 automatic transmission?

Hello everyone. Just got my new blue 2007 Mini Cooper with the new 6 speed auto about three weeks ago. I commute to work and have noticed that automatic seems to get lost at low speeds. I'll be coasting along traffic and when I accelerate it'll hesitate before shifting up. Sometimes this shifts can be rather abrupt, almost like a slip. Using the paddle shifters, no delay. Anyone notice this?

Mine is fine...but I use it mostly at DS function.

It gets better after a month when the transmission adapts to your driving style. But you can improve the shifting speed by pressing the sport button

Is the gearbox really adaptive? I've just about finished running mine in, so it's in for a shock!

"The transmission is adaptive as well, and because of the drive by wire system, very responsive to throttle input."

I have noticed it when not in the DS mode, seems to get confused maybe when changing the throttle when it's about to shift. Other than a little sluggish when not in DS mode everything is great!

Thanks for the link, but I can't seem to make it work. Also, if it's from 2005 it will refer to the old transmission presumably.

The only odd thing I've noticed is the way it decides to change into low gear sometimes but not others when decending hills!

Pulling away from standstill

I've just taken delivery of an S and I am really happy with it, beautifully put together, really classy cabin, sensational performance and roadholding. I have had 3 earlier minis and this one blows them away.

However...

In D when pulling away from standstill the car hesitates and then suddenly it lurches forward except if I am ultra cautious on the gas. That is quite disconcerting at junctions.

Should I expect this 'feature' to diminish as the car gets run in?

Go to this link: Miniology™ » Blog Archive » 2008 MINI Convertible (full press write-up) and search for Adaptive Transmission Control
