Offline | Could the manumatic mode be faster than full automatic? Hi, Could the manumatic mode be faster than full automatic? I shall also be getting a sport button on my MINI. The manual 0-62 take 9.1 seconds The Automatic 0-62 take 10.4 seconds Using the paddle shift and sport button could time be shaved of 10.4 seconds? Anyones reponse will be welcomed. Thanks, Tom |

Offline | I know on the Audi/VW DSG auto box the paddleshift mode is quicker than normal manual but not sure about the mini, i doubt it will be or mini would have made it public knowledge. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | From my experience on the R53 (which I think is the same transmission) ... No. There's often a clear delay between hitting a switch and shifting gears - think of the paddles as "request" switches rather than "change now" switches! |

Offline | Doubt it very much. An auto Cooper isn't the fastest thing on the planet. Sport button and DS mode will make the gear changes faster, but not instantaneous like the audi DSG which is a totally different system. MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |

Offline | My answer would be YES as full-auto mode will always start from a stand still in 2nd gear. When using manumatic you can shift down to start in the much lower 1st gear which would surely assist in bringing the 0-62 time down a little. Regarding shift times, when the 'sport' button is engaged the shift times are pretty quick - nothing remotely like the full-auto gear change which slurs each change in exchange for being more comfortable. In 'sport', once you press the button, it changes and changes fast... In conclusion: move your lever across into manumatic (DS) mode, press the sport button, shift down into 1st and then shift manually through the gears - and I'd be very surprised if your 0-62 time was not a fair bit faster than the stated full-auto Cooper time. |
