Anybody know what the spec of the new diesel engine is likely to be. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were going to use this engine stop start technology that improves fuel consumption. I have a Cooper now, but do begrudge paying so much for fuel, so I'm tempted by a new diesel one if they have managed to get it's average up passed the 60mpg mark.

I must admit that having read the excellent review for the testing the other week that I am warming to the new mini quite a lot (I did think that it was a bit to round at the front to start with).

I haven't heard any specs about the diesel....
I think it will be a wile befor the put a diesel on the market.
I don't think BMW has one lying around for the Mini.
Maybee it will be a Peugeot diesel, because PSA and BMW produce the petrol engine together.

Lots of information in the future variants forum (as the diesel hasn't been officially announced iin any way). Currently expect two versions using versions of Ford/PSA units.

heard rummour of there being 2 versions a 90bhp and a 120bhp the 120 being in a diesel copper

Yes, I'm also very interested in a new diesel Cooper. A bit more horsepower than the One plus all that lovely low-end torque - YES PLEASE!!! (Oh yes, and I mean in a a Cabrio...)
